Youth With A Mission (YWAM) is an international and interdenominational Christian movement. YWAM was established in 1960, by Loren Cunningham. We are currently operating in more than 1000 locations in over 149 countries, with a staff of nearly 20,000.
Youth With A Mission was established to help equip Christian in fulfilling the task of the Great Commission. We are called to go and make disciples of all nations (Matt. 28:18-20).
Our many ministries fit into three main categories: Evangelism, Training and Mercy ministry.
The University of the Nations (U of N) is YWAM's global University dedicated to be a multiplier for missions in fulfilling Christ's Great Commission.
We now run more than 900 courses and seminars each year, some of which are offered in 60 languages, at approximately 400 locations across more than 140 nations.
At each U of N location, there is commitment to equipping men and women spiritually, culturally and intellectually to serve in a wide variety of disciplines and to reach the world for Christ.
Courses are offered in Christian Ministries, Communication, Counseling and Health Care, Education, Humanities and International Studies, performing Arts and Science and Technology. The U of N's vision is to send missionaries from every nation into geographic and vocational fields. From towering glass office buildings in world class cities, to remote grass huts in jungle villages.
Our goal, as YWAM / U of N campus of Port Harcourt, is :
- To counteract the influence of wrong belief systems, which have led much of the African continent away from God. We work to see God established at the centre of key sectors of the society such us family, Church, education, government, media, the arts, etc.
- To ignite and encourage passion for God and intimacy with Him, especially among the youth.
- To raise and empower young people to become world changers, through effective use of their talents, gifts and God given calling.
